Wearing the Loving Comfort® Breast Binder will help keep your
milk from coming in.
Comfortable and effective way to suppress lactation.
Helps prevent and treat engorgement.
Whether you will not be breast feeding or if it's time to
stop, the Loving Comfort® Breast Binder is the comfortable
and effective way to suppress lactation. The whisper-soft,
latex-free elastic provides the necessary compression needed
to support and bind the breast, and to prevent and treat
engorgement. The breast binder is lightweight, easy to put
on and is adjustable without requiring assistance. The
Loving Comfort® Breast Binder may be used with nursing pads,
if desired.
Engorgement
In most women,
the milk supply arrives quickly and forcibly a few days
after delivery. The breasts can become tightly swollen and
sore, and are said to be "engorged." It is not our role to
discourage breast feeding, but if that is your choice, and
since prescription medications are no longer available to
suppress lactation, wearing the Loving Comfort® Breast
Binder will help keep your milk from coming in. Engorgement
can also happen when you decide to stop breastfeeding and
milk accumulates in the breasts. You should wean your baby
gradually and express some milk if needed. If your breasts
become engorged because you have stopped breastfeeding, wear
your Loving Comfort® Breast Binder as tightly as is
comfortable, up to 24 hours a day. Cold packs may provide
further relief. After a few days, whatever buildup of milk
there is will prevent still more milk from being produced
and your breasts will gradually become less full and less
painful.
Mastitis Caution
Mastitis is
a breast infection which may occur when bacteria enters the
breast through the nipple. It is extremely rare in
non-nursing mothers but fairly common in nursing ones.
Symptoms include mid-to-high fever, chills, fatigue, and
joint pain. All or part of the breast may become red, hard,
hot, and painful. If this condition occurs, call your doctor
immediately for consideration of antibiotic therapy.
Washing
Hand wash the binder often in warm (not hot) soapy water, and allow
to air dry. Do not put the binder in the dryer.
The
Loving Comfort® Breast Binder is designed so that it is easy
to put on without assistance. There are two strips of
Velcro® "hook" on the binder. The narrower strip should face
out, and the wider one should face you. The narrow one will
help hold the elastic in place while you stretch it tightly
around your body. You should wear the binder as tightly as
is comfortable. You may use nursing pads if desired.
